UT Dallas OBCC Faculty Share Expertise In and Out of the Classroom
March 4, 2022
OBBC faculty are leaders in and out of the classroom. Dr. Dale J. Albrecht is the lead faculty for the OBCC Strategic HR certificate program. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Albrecht is a much sought-after guest presenter, sharing strategic human resource insight with leaders in the industry.
As a recent guest presenter for IvyExec (May 2021), HR Southwest (October 2021), DallasHR’s Executive Breakfast (November 2021), and Big Country SHRM Chapter in Abilene (February 2022) Dr. Albrecht explained, “People have been writing about the importance of a strategic human resources function for years. The business importance of ‘people being our greatest asset’ and the belief that ‘teamwork is one of the only competitive advantages’ is generally accepted. Yet, the strategic HR function remains elusive. Often, business leaders and educational professionals don’t understand what strategic HR means, the impact it has on a business, and how to develop the capability.”
He explains strategic human resources by looking at the context of business capital management, including the strategic importance of human capital:
1. The business imperative of HCM
2. Necessary capabilities of Strategic HR
3. Solving the Strategic HR capability gap.
“For HR leaders, it should no longer be about getting a seat at the table. It should be about keeping it and being ready-now successors to the CEO.”
As the lead faculty for the Strategic Human Resources Certificate Program at UT Dallas, Dr. Albrecht instructs students in leadership and organizational development theory, models, and application including motivational leadership, culture, systems thinking, and change management. Students learn how to fulfill the advanced role of HR Business Partner by using methodologies and tools to lead organizational change, plan for effective transition, develop strategies that help shape and move the organization towards its business vision. The OBCC program goes beyond administration and focuses on developing the HR professional’s ability to interpret business dynamics and translate them into human capital implications.
Classes are conducted utilizing the very best in interactive distance learning methodologies, making the program convenient, efficient, and geographically independent for business professionals. Students are taught by faculty with real-world business and human resources experience.
