The Certificate in Transformational Leadership was developed to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate current and future leadership landscapes. Although Transformational Leadership is a leadership approach, our program transcends one approach or methodology, covering historical approaches to leadership and ending with the most recent research concerning the neuropsychology of leadership. Curriculum
Academic Certificate Curriculum
- The four-course program can be completed in two semesters
- The completed 12 academic credit hours can be applied as a Transformational Leadership concentration to the Master of Science in Leadership and Organizational Development.
- The fully online program can be attended from anywhere
- Enrollment is available for fall, spring, and summer sessions
- As a value-added benefit, students enrolled in this program are invited to attend regularly scheduled Expert Forums in a variety of related subjects.
The Transformational Leadership Academic Certificate program takes advantage of state-of-the-art eLearning methodologies delivered fully online through our management system. The online courses also include additional readings, YouTube viewings, short papers, and live webinars.
Professional Certificate

OB 6382 Transformational Leadership (3 credit hours)
Transformational Leadership (3 semester credit hours) Executive Education Course. This course explores Transformational Leadership as it relates to workforce dynamics and practices. Students will investigate the history of this theory, including the variety of approaches to Transformational Leadership as well as salient cultural, gender, and business forces influencing its development over time. Course assignments include the applicability of Transformational Leadership to challenges inherent in both present and future workplaces. Case studies in Transformational Leadership will integrate theory with practice. Academic literature will be reviewed introducing relevant issues surrounding the application of this model in a variety of settings.

OB 6348 Leadership Concepts and Practices (3 credit hours)
Leadership Concepts and Practices (3 semester credit hours) Executive Education Course. This course explores theories and techniques of leadership and approaches from antiquity to the present time with an emphasis on complementary roles of management and leadership in organizations. The course covers various aspects of developing such approaches and their critical analyses. The course also addresses emotional intelligence, leadership styles, communications practices and with a specific focus on how leaders turn challenging opportunities into successes and achieve extraordinary results. Self-assessment exercises will focus on the development of individual leadership skills.

OB 6377 The Neuropsychology of Leadership (3 credit hours)
Executive Education Course. Exploration of how advances in the neurosciences inform organizational interventions in the area of leadership. This course explores basic neural structures and functions and how these are activated within interactions between leaders and their teams as indicated by research. Of particular importance will be the relevance to workplace dynamics, particularly how the research can be translated into leadership practices that can augment productivity and engagement as well as research exploring which practices can derail organizations.

BPS 6332 Strategic Leadership (3 credit hours)
Executive Education Course. Addresses the challenge of leading organizations in dynamic and challenging environments. The overall goal is to not only question one’s assumptions about leadership but also enhance skills and acquire new content knowledge. Topics include visionary and transformational leadership, post-heroic leadership, empowerment, leveraging and combining resources, designing organizations, and ethics.

Tuition
Tuition for the Academic Certificate at UT Dallas is $10,800.
- $900 per academic credit hour
- 12 credit hour program
- Tuition is due each semester, and payment for courses taken during that term must be made by the first day of that semester.
*Tuition is the same regardless of your status as a domestic (in-state or out-of-state) or international student.

Admission Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Minimum of three years of professional work experience. As an Executive Education program, with no GRE or GMAT required for admission, your professional work experience is highly valued.
- Resume of your career experience.
- One-page personal statement which explains the following:
- What are your long and short-term professional objectives?
- How have your past experiences contributed to the definition of those objectives?
- What is your reason for pursuing the program?
- Letters of recommendation.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended.
- International applicants have additional requirements that are available upon request.

The Transformational Leadership Certificate offers three intakes annually: spring (January), summer (June), and fall (August).
Applications are reviewed upon receipt of the online application, resume, and personal statement. After approval, admission is completed upon receipt of all required components. Candidates are notified shortly after the admission decision has been made. Early submission of all application materials is strongly recommended.

- When completing the application form, the only required items are those marked with an asterisk. For example, we DO require your resume and personal statement to apply but we DO NOT require your unofficial transcripts to be uploaded to the application – though you are free to do so if you wish. Similarly, you are NOT required to list your recommenders. However, if you choose to do so the recommendation form will be emailed immediately upon entering their information.

What are the advantages of OBCC Programs?
- We are a university-based program housed within the Naveen Jindal School of Management’s Executive Education department.
- In place of GMAT or GRE scores, admission to the OBCC programs is based on your professional experience and letters of recommendation.
- Our directors work closely with you during your studies at UT Dallas, which gives you a more personalized, concierge-level experience.
